in my opinion it was attacking Russia. He thought he would walk over the russians but forgot about the unbearable weatherconditions in the fall and winter. in the fall the machines got stuck in the mud and the so did the transportation of food and ammo. in the winter the soldiers froze, machines stopped working. also he didn't notice the lack of good transportation roads for food and ammo for the soldiers. oh en he underestimated the size of the red army. and he overstimated the strength of his own army, they weren't capable of fighting a war on both sides of the continent.

I once wrote an article called "valuable poker lessons learned from Hitler's mistakes"

Even thought I CLEARLY pointed out that this was NOT pro-Hilter, Cardplayer decided to deleate the article.

Too bad, it was BRILLIANT.

The thing is, that Hitler did NOT think at all! He based his decisions ON HATRED of his enemys

Which, is something that you can do as a poker player; become so angry and want to GET someone (for a bad beat) that you lose sense of PROPER TACTICAL concepts.

It is SO SO scarey, as to what could have happened had the German army been comanded by someone that actually KNEW what he was doing.

Personally, I think that had Hitler not used VAST resources building the VII which had NO military value whatsoever, that he still could have won, even with the attack on Russia.

I mean, they spent as much on this, as WE did on the B 29 bomber! Most people dont' know this.

Imagine if they went with a long-range JET bomber, and took out TANKOGRAD, before the T 34 went into mass production.

The building of a weapon that could only be used againsdt CITIES, was a horrible mistake.

Anyone with interest in this section, please make some p;osts!

That is indeed a valuable poker lesson and a "good" comparison. (as far as good and Hitler can be used in the same sentence except for "it's good that Hitler is beaten")

Hm it's indeed scary to imagine that if Hitler knew what he was doing he would probably have made it. Didn't know they spend that much on the VII. That makes it even more frightening, the thought that if he'd just changed one thing he could have made it.

I'm really interested in the second world war, but i don't know as much as i should know about it. Going to the library wednesday, rent some books about it. Will be posting some questions if i don't understand or want to discuss something.

As your poker guidance person, I can highly recommend the study of ANY war, as many military tactics CAN be applied towards poker.

And, certainly NOT just Hitler's mistakes, can show how similar mistakes can kill you in poker.

The Japanese thought their troops were SO much better, with their fighting spirit, that they could make do with inferior weapons.

VASTLY inferior ones.

Bottem line: going up against things like Thompson's, Garands and BAR's with old bolt actions and

YOU BE DEAD

Same thing in poker.

IF YOU GO AGAINST VASTLY SUPERIOR OPPOSITION

you be dead.

Even if you win the first time, you just do'nt have what it takes to sustain yourself over your pokerlifetime.

Dang, that word has become really popular, so I guess I'll use it.

Just do'nt anyone EVER expect me to call BURGER KING "BK" and we'll be ok.

i've got a couple of books about the second world war here now, will read them this weekend.

There indeed seemes to be a similarity between military tactics and poker.

I'll go study on it over the weekend and respond next week.
