Say you are a thief, you have mastered the art of sneaking around, you got some cool ninja shit goin on including the clothes (head to toe in black, even got the ninja tabi shoes lol), and now you feel you are pretty badass and almost ready to go out and steal some shit.
Lets say your target is a warehouse for a catalog where they store all their goods. You have decided you will be stealing small items which do not require a vehicle to quickly transport.. for example mobile phones, ipods, and high value goods you can easily carry without being detected, so you can go in and out and nobody would notice.
You have reached the following stage of your "thief training":
- You have extensively recon'd your target and fully understand the extent to which your target must be studied before being "hit". You know the shift patterns of security guards if there is any. The locations of security cameras if any. You know about their alarms. You know what kind of locks they have. You know the sounds that are made on their floor surfaces... where it is audible when you walk and where it isn't. You know places to hide if you need to avoid detection or fear being caught. Ie you basically spent at least a week monitoring your target and know it inside and out.
- You know how to sneak and move as inaudibly as possible
- You know how to not be seen
- You know how to move quickly whilst remaining in stealth
- You have an extensive knowlege of locks and lock picking and own a high end lock pick set
OK so what you need next is a weapon as a last resort. In the event that you get caught at the scene by security, you need a gun that will take out the guard without them dying, a gun that is silent.
I was thinking the best weapon would probably be a tranquiliser gun (yeah we spell it with an S, unlike you Americanos, we speak real English!).
Gotta make it clear that the plan for this excursion would be to actually make several "visits" to maximise the "payout". Clearly its not worth robbing a place unless you make at least £1k out of it - you want to at least beat a McDonalds job in monthly pay! So you gotta go back there and get some more stuff. Each time you steal like 3 boxes of whatever small items that are easily carriable - say they fit in a backpack.
The idea with the weapon is you don't want to use it, you don't want to get caught, your months of training have taught you how to not be caught, but if you fear discovery, it may be beneficial to paralyse/knock unconcious the guy that might discover you. And you don't want to kill anyone. You want to just demobilise a threat as close to instantly as possible WITHOUT any noise.
Lets just say your "code" says "we may be thieves but not murderers"
Questions
1) Do you agree that would be a very decent weapon
2) Are they cheap weapons
3) Where would you buy one
4) Where would be the best place to steal one?
That would be an excellent first job - steal the tools you plan to use! Saves your bank statement looking a little suspicious, no?
BTW I am not trained in any of this and am not planning on doin some sorta badass ninja heist
Just a male fantasy! |

Hey, wait a minute. When one attempts to state the the English used by another is not the right one, the word to use is
"Proper" not "Real"
Especially if you are a Britisher, you ALWAYS would say "PROPER" English.
The opposite of real is fake: Certainly, if there is a difference in some words, and/or spelling of words, this cannot be said to be Fake, just
IMproper.
uh, NO not at all would a tranquiliZer gun be the best choice. Contrary to the movies, the effects do NOT at ALL take place instantly, or anywhere near that.
May take SEVERAL minutes in fact.
And then, there are dangers, and by NO means is the target safe from death.
(1) Dosage If the target is much larger than expected, say 15 stone (yes, ATE can speak some British)
The say, 10mg. dose you had in the dart, may well not be enough. If you compensate by having a larger dose, a 45 kilo person, could receive a fatal overdose.
Area of hit.
Most tranquliZing medications are intended to be injected in a large muscle mass. If you hit a major artery, the medicaiont can then get into the blood stream MUCH too quickly, and also result in a fatal ov erdose.
Or, just nick an artery, and the target bleeds to death.
When a weapon is NOT intended to be used to kill, usually the best way to go is to have one that will INSTANTLY not take the target out, but assure INSTANT COMPLIANCE.
This works only in situations where your opposition is expected to NOT be carrying f irearms, themselves.
But, in such a situation, the THREAT of death, is much more effective than a non-lethan weapon, which almost ALWAYS offers only one, MAYBE two shots anyway.
I would say a saw-ed off double-barrel shotgun, UNloaded.
The intimidation of seeing those HUGE two barrels, and imagining the size of the hole that would be in your chest, is enough to get those gaurds to immediately t hink in terms of NOT at tempting to t ake you into custody.
And yet, unlike a REVOLVER, you cannot see that there is no ammunition in said weapon.
Moreover if you were NOT loaded, in most countries the p;enalty for the crime would be MUCH less, as you can clearly show that it was never your intent, never a possibility to kill anyone.
AND, if needed, the thing can now become a club.
Sorry I did not see this sooner
